In recent years, as the advertising world has changed, I’ve worked to expand my skillset to include Graphic Design and Digital Illustration. Below are a few graphic design projects I’ve worked on recently as well as a handful of digital illustrations.

SCOTT C.

Scott Campbell, know in the art world as Scott C., is an illustrator and children’s book author. In the past I’ve done video work for him to promote his best-selling picture book, The Hug Machine, including one of my favorite promotional pieces I’ve ever done, a hug workout video called 90-Second Hugs. This past year, Scott commissioned me to do graphic design work for his online shop including a wholesale postcard, tees, pins, stickers, and more.

PS316 PTA

I’ve recently done some design work for the PTA at Sally’s and Fox’s school, PS316 Elijah Stroud Elementary. Inspired by a mural in front of the school, I created a new school logo (which has been used for tees, bags, and more). I also designed several additional school t-shirts (including two designs for their annual Halloween fundraiser, Frightfest. I especially love the “new math vs. old math” concept.

Wavelength Party

Several years back, I invented a party game called Wavelength Party (not to be confused with another different game also called Wavelength that came out years later…grrr). A friend of mine and I turned my game into an app. For the app, in addition to co-creating the content, I did all the design work myself (and even did the sound design). You can download the game for free on the iPhone app store here.

Digital Illustration

Digital Illustration started out as a hobby (reflected in the fact that many of the illustrations below were created for my family) but has recently become a valuable addition to my skillset.

Often taking inspiration from minimalist 60s poster design (Raymond Savignac, Tom Ekersley) and vintage children’s books (Miroslav Sasek, Alain Grée), I love using limited color palettes and brush-like textures to recreate mid-century printing techniques. Below are some of my favorites drawn with Adobe Illustrator and more recently ProCreate.
